What causes dyslipidemia?

Several behaviors can lead to dyslipidemia.

  • Genetic Predisposition

If One or Both of your Parents Had Dyslipidemia

  • Obesity and a Sedentary Lifestyle
  • Consumption Of Foods High in Saturated Fat and Trans Fat
  • Excessive Alcohol Consumption
  • Smoking

What are the symptoms?

You could have dyslipidemia and never know it.

The only way to know is by checking your high blood cholesterol levels. 

What can I do to prevent dyslipidemia?

  • Eating a healthy diet.
  • Keeping a healthy weight.
  • Physical activity.
  • Not smoking.

If lifestyle changes are not adequate to control your cholesterol levels your doctor may need to prescribe medications.
